Places that accept Sharps 

(hypodermic needles)

1. Oak Hill Manor – 272-8282
Wednesdays from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm
Must be in puncture resistant container with screw top and labeled “Needles” or “Biohazard”. Will accept them at other times if you call Chuck Hodencamp.

 

2. Groton Nursing Facility – 898-5876
Monday through Friday from 8:00 am – 4:00 pm
Must be in puncture resistant container with screw top and labeled “Needles” or “Biohazard”. Will accept them at other times if you call Howard Keller or Infectious Control.

 

3. Cayuga Ridge Extended Care – 273-8072
Wednesdays from 10:00 am through 2:00 pm
Must be in puncture resistant container with screw top and labeled “Needles” or “Biohazard”. Will accept them at other times if you call the Director of Environmental Services.

 

4. Cayuga Medical Center – 274-4011
Last Thursday of each month from 8:00 am through 10:00 am.

Must be in a regulated needle container purchased from a pharmacy. Will accept them at other times if you call Teena Irvin.

 

5. Southern Tier AIDS Program - 272-4098
This free and anonymous syringe exchange and syringe disposal site accepts household sharps for disposal and provides harm reduction information and supplies, support and referrals.  We prefer but do not require that syringes be placed in a puncture-proof container.  Also provides HIV testing and free safer sex information and supplies.

6. Convenient Care Center - 274-4150

Monday through Sunday 7am to 10pm.
